About 70% of companies have struggled to fill full-time positions in the last year according to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) HR Quarterly magazine (Volume 70, Issue 2, Summer 2025). There are too few applicants and those who do apply, tend to ghost recruiters after a short period of time.
The most common recruiting strategies included using social media, posting pay ranges (which is required under MD and DC law), and promoting a positive culture. But the most effective recruiting strategies included: (1) providing flexible work options (2) offering higher compensation, and (3) simplifying the application process.
